What happens to episodes of cancelled TV Shows?
I’m curious…. Some shows make it to DVD even if they are small lived. What happens to excellent shows that a network decides to drop from their schedule but never seem to surface on DVD?
I’m particularly curious about a couple of shows I liked, but got cancelled before they even had a chance to gain a foothold audience, “Black Sash” that was on the WB (now CW) and “Journeyman” from NBC.
Any any thought how those shows can be found again?

Usually the choice of whether to release a show on DVD can be summed up in 1 way: Will it sell and be well loved enough on DVD to generate a decent profit?
Usually there has to be at least 1 full season before the owners of a property will even consider a DVD release.
So the answer is that these 2 shows mentioned may never resurface unless someone decides to do a compilation of “failed series” and knows it will sell.
Even series that were well loved like Welcome Back, Kotter and F Troop waited for a while before even their first season were released. In fact, in both cases a single DVD with selected episodes from the series were released as a sales testing device before the go ahead was made to even convert the first seasons to DVD.

well i’m not sure about the dvd’s but i know some show’s go to other stations like george lopez, home improvment, family matter are all show that Nick at Night play even though the shows where cancelled from their original stations, maybe other channels do that too, or you can google it and find out.
Start following the new shows which are been telecasting in the same time… That’s what I do… I also liked the shows which you have mentioned but I guess the production unit has not thought about making a DVD of the show…
My friend has the Copies of some of the episodes of Black Sash, he had recorded them from his satellite TV facility of DVR… I watch them once in a while… that’s all I can do now…
